Short version. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics. The game runs in your browser and keeps your settings there. We record that you accepted the “this is for fun” notice, under a random identifier and no name. Beyond that we keep only what you choose to send us: a team you post, or a suggestion.
What stays on your device
The game saves a few settings in your browser's local storage so it remembers you. They never leave your device and you can clear them in your browser settings.
- any-lineup:prefs: the pool, sport and difficulty you last picked.
- any-lineup:units: feet and pounds or centimetres and kilograms.
- any-lineup:share-name: the name you used the last time you posted a team, so it is filled in next time.
- any-lineup:accepted and any-lineup:visitor: that you accepted the "this is for fun" notice, which version and when, and a random identifier your browser made for itself. The identifier is not an account and is not linked to your name; it lets us tell one acceptance from another.
- sl-coach-dismissed: that you have seen the first-game tips.
Cookies and tracking
We do not set any cookies of our own, and we do not use analytics, advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking. What is stored on your device is the local storage listed above, not cookies. One thing outside that is worth knowing: Cloudflare, our host, processes request logs and may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site. The game loads no third-party scripts.
We also keep a record that you accepted the notice (the random identifier, the version, the time, a country and a salted hash of your address; see the table below). That is the one thing we record about you without you sending a message, and it is there so that there is a record of who accepted what. You can read the notice again at any time from “Cookies & notice” at the foot of the home page. If we ever add analytics or advertising, this page will change first and you will be asked to accept again.
What we keep when you choose to send something
| When | What is sent and kept | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| You post a team to the site | The lineup, pool, sport and difficulty, a seed number, the score the server worked out, the time, and the optional name you typed (up to 24 characters). | Everyone. Posted teams are listed on the Shared teams page and the home page. |
| You send a suggestion | Your message, the optional name, and, for a rating change, the pool, character and stat. We also keep a salted hash of your network address, used only to limit how many suggestions one sender can send an hour. The address itself is not stored with it and the hash cannot be turned back into it. | Only the site owner. |
| You accept the "this is for fun" notice | The random identifier your browser made, which version of the notice you accepted, the time (ours and your browser's), the two-letter country your request came from, the start of your browser's user-agent, and a salted hash of your network address, used only to stop one sender flooding the table. The address itself is not stored and the hash cannot be turned back into it. There are no accounts: nothing links this to a name. | Only the site owner. |
| You play Hard mode in a league pool | The pool, sport, open lineup spots and the players already chosen are sent to our server so it can deal a pool. Nothing that identifies you. | Not stored. |
Please do not put personal information in a team name or a suggestion. A posted name is public. If you posted something you want gone, email us and we will remove it.
Keeping bots out
To stop automated abuse, the server looks at the headers your browser sends with each request to the game's API (such as the user-agent) and at the network the request came from (its number and country), scores how much it looks like a script, and may refuse it. When it does, it records the score, the page requested, the network number and country, and the start of the user-agent. It does not record your address in that record.
Who handles it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the server code and provides its domain name service. Like any web host it processes request logs, which include network addresses, to run and protect the service.
- Supabase stores posted teams, suggestions and the record of who accepted the notice in a database located in the United States (US East).
- Wikimedia serves the player and portrait photos. Your browser loads them straight from Wikimedia's servers, which see your network address and browser details, as with any image on the web.
Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party. We do not sell or share what you send us for advertising, and we do not run advertising.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete a team name or suggestion you sent, or to ask anything about this page, email hello@furmanstudios.com. Tell us roughly when you posted and the name you used, since we cannot look you up by anything else.
Changes
If this changes, for example if analytics or accounts are ever added, this page will change first and the date above will move.
